When it comes to facing the challenges of climate change, there is no such thing as a silver bullet we can rely on. Instead, ‘silver buckshot’, is the term more commonly used, to represent a multitude of different approaches we need.
In this guest post from Jonathan Villiard of DigitalHumani.com, he outlines his project, Reforestation as a Service, as one way to account for the carbon emitted by daily activity that drives the climate crisis.
Climate change is one of the biggest problems of our time, if not the biggest. No single solution will win this fight against climate change alone, so no one can claim that “their” solution will be the miracle cure.
At DigitalHumani, we are a volunteer collective of IT oriented people from all around the world who want to do our part in fighting climate change.
We decided to confront the problem head first, by provoding a free RaaS (Reforestation as a Service) solution. The New York Declaration on Forests in 2014 stated that forests represent one of the largest and most cost-effective climate solutions available today, and this is how we can help.
The service we provide is vey simple: An easy to use API (Application Programming Interface) to help connect websites and mobile applications to trusted reforestation organizations.
Basically, enterprises add a few lines of codes in their website, e-commerce platform or mobile app, and when a user does a speficic action (subscribing, buying an item, referring a friend, etc.), a request to plant a tree is sent. As simple as that.
This service is 100% free. The enterprises only pay for the trees, directly to the reforestation organisations (1 USD per tree). This way, you can be sure that 100% of the money goes to the reforestation organizations.
Is your enterprise willing to give it a try? The world could really use a few more trees right now. Contact us at [email protected], or visit our website at DigitalHumani.com
